Questions
Common questions about heat pump rebates
Which heat pump rebates can I get?
It depends on where the home is and what heats it today. Anywhere we work, the Mitsubishi Electric fall rebate takes $750 to $1,450 off qualifying systems bought by November 25, 2026. Homes in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish can get $1,000 from Energy Smart Eastside, plus a $5,000 bonus for income-qualified households. Seattle homes switching off oil heat get a $2,000 instant rebate, plus a $4,000 bonus for qualifying households. Send us your address and we'll tell you which ones apply.
Can I combine more than one rebate?
Sometimes. Each program sets its own rules about stacking, so ask us and we'll check which rebates work together on your project before you commit.
Do these rebates work for new construction?
No. The city and utility programs on this page are retrofit only, which means the heat pump replaces an existing system in an existing building. The Mitsubishi Electric fall rebate is for homeowner installs, not builder or commercial jobs.
How do I know if I qualify for a bonus rebate?
Bonus rebates are based on household size and total household income. The income limits for each program are listed on this page. If you're close to a limit, the program makes the final call, and we'll tell you what it needs from you.
Do these rebates expire?
The Mitsubishi Electric fall rebate covers equipment bought September 26 to November 25, 2026, and installed by December 31, 2026. Energy Smart Eastside rebates depend on program funding. Seattle's $4,000 bonus is for installs completed by May 30, 2027. The City Light small business rebates last only until program funds run out.
Are there rebates for businesses?
Yes. Small businesses on Seattle City Light power in Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park and Burien can get up to $10,000 off each qualifying heat pump system. The rebate is an instant discount on your invoice.
